05/03/10. NEW LIMITED WATERMELON AND FREEDOM FLOWLIGHTS LAUNCH!
They're here - our new limited summer colors! If you liked the original Freedom, you will love the new Freedom with its brighter red LED. These lights make us feel like superheroes with their high contrast colors.
The new Watermelon flowlight is now available and they are soooo pretty! We released the Watermelon flowlight in honor of an awesome force in the flow community - Watermelon Dan aka Burning Dan, who organizes the FlowTemple community in Los Angeles. He's been asking for a watermelon color schemed light for years and this is a recognition of all his efforts to create and sustain a thriving creative flow community and for rocking the pink and green theme :)
02/10. NEW LOVE FLOWLIGHT NOW AVAILABLE!
The new Love flowlight is here and it is beautiful with 3 dreamy shades of pink. The Love light is a limited edition flowlight, which means we only make one batch this year and when it runs out, we will not have more in stock.
01/17/10. NEW BRIGHTER EARTH AND FIRE FLOWLIGHTS NOW AVAILABLE!
The long-awaited new Earth and Fire flowlights are now in stock and ready to ship out! After a long hiatus, Earth is making a comeback and will take its rightful place as an Element in the Flowlight Elements Color series. The new Fire - we are very excited to say - is much brighter than the previous Fire lights. We spent a couple of years looking for bright and affordable red/orange/yellow LEDs and finally found them. They still cost much more than the ole ones, but we think they're worth it and we're not raising the price.
06/9/08. NEW FLOWLIGHT COLORS ARE IN!
We have finally received our latest shipment of flowlights with 5 new element colors! The following colors are now available:
Water: blue, white, green
Water II: blue, white, aqua-blue
Air: white, blue, white
Fire: orange, red, yellow
Spirit: blue, pink, pink
Love: pink, white, pink

04/15/08. FIRE IS SOLD OUT:
We are temporarily out of fire lights. They should be here in 2-3 weeks together with several new colors!
04/15/08. EARTH IS SOLD OUT:
We are out of earth flowlights and will not be ordering them for awhile. We have kept a small stash for people who already have earth lights and who might need replacements in the near future. We underestimated how popular this color would be and didn't order all that many.
01/21/08. FLOWLIGHT 1.1 : NEW COLOR, FAVORITE MODE MEMORY
Since our first run of flowlights, we have added another "element" to your light color options. The new "air" flowlights are set to be our brightest yet, with 1 blue and 2 white LEDs. These look great with the "water" flowlights.
We have also made some changes to the shell and are currently doing impact testing to determine how much more durable this run of lights are! So far they are great and we are seeing much less splitting at the seams when the flowlights are interconnected!
FAVORITE MODE MEMORY: The new water and air flowlights now remember which mode you were most recently in, so you can access your favorite mode without having to navigate through the other modes. When you are in your favorite mode - turn off by holding down the button for just under 2 seconds. To return to your favorite mode, hold down the button until it turns on.
10/31/07. FLOWLIGHT 1.0 : NEW MODE, NEW FEATURES
Since our pilot run in June, we have made some improvements to the flowlight. Thanks to all who have contributed their ideas and feedback to this process. Below are the specific improvements to the first official post-pilot run:
1. BOUNTY “DEMO” MODE!
Mode 11 – Bounty – cycles through the other modes displaying each for 11 seconds. You can now experience the different modes and combinations the flowlight has to offer without having to change modes. Bounty is the 6th mode in the 2nd dimension. Note that "bounty" does not display “beacon” mode as it doesn't look good while spinning.
2. Color-coding
There is now a small colored dot on the circuit board, so you can tell which color the flowlight is without turning it on! Can’t believe we didn’t think of this one earlier. Doh! The dot is located on the top left
corner of the flowlight, near “LED B” on the circuit board. Blue for water, red for fire, green for earth.
3. Upgraded plastic resin
We decided to use the most durable plastic possible for our application and the new flowlight is now made with top-grade, brand-name Lexan polycarbonate. While it’s still possible for the shell to split on hard
surfaces, it is now even harder to do so and less likely to happen even during aggressive spinning.
4. More advanced plastic welding method
The seam of the flowlight is now fused with “Solvent Assisted Ultrasonic Welding,” a method that we developed with during our factory tour in September. As far as we know, we are the first to use this in a consumer product - that’s right, developing new plastic fusion techniques for your spinning enjoyment!
5. State-of-the-art micro-controller
The flowlight now comes with a new, smarter “brain” – Atmel’s ATtiny24, the most advanced chip of its kind. Super efficient and versatile, this advanced chip enables higher performance and flexibility for re-programming and other modifications (not for the average user).
6. New circuit board layout
Our brilliant electrical engineer has completely re-laid out the circuitry for improved brightness, durability and hack-ability, achieving optimal power-supply performance, running every trace you could want to through-hole vias along the edge of the battery opening, and even putting the tallest components in-line with the battery spring to minimize shadows.
7. New battery spring design
You may not have noticed, but some of the previous springs had a tendency to catch on the edge of the batteries during insertion. We solved this with a small extension to our custom spring design, which like much of the flowlight was engineered to provide maximum performance in the smallest package possible. No existing battery spring fits within the flowlight’s narrow body and provides the kind of strength and travel
needed for maximum resistance to impact-related power loss.
8. Low battery indicator
When the battery is almost completely dead (0.83 volts), the flowlight can no longer run at full brightness. Instead of dimming and dying out at this point, the flowlight now goes into a unique blink pattern indicating that the battery needs to be changed.
NOTE: We have found that this new function is not fully developed and is not always triggered, resulting in a normal brief dim-to-off expiration, as with the previous version. While we intend to improve this feature, it is not considered defective if it is not triggered as this does not affect the flowlight’s functionality.
